Can't install XAMPP on Windows Vista Premium

I can't completely install XAMPP for Windows Vista Premium. The install hangs up and I get a DOS screen with the following error:

Warning: require(C:\xampp\install\xampp_xampp.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\xampp\setup_xampp.bat on line 33

Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required 'C:\xampp\install\xampp_xampp.php' (include_path='.;.\pear') in C:\xampp\setup_xampp.bat on line 33

I'm getting a similar problem. When I try to install XAMPP I get an error that "...some of the files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy..." but No matter how many times I download it, I get the same error. Is there a fresh copy that can be uploaded.

I can run successfully XAMPP on Vista Home Premium. I have MySQL installed previously, before I installed XAMPP. Perhaps you want to give a try, and let us know what is the outcome.

it is really a mystery... I try install XAMPP on another machine with OS = Vista Home Premium, it cannot work, because the Apache service cannot start. Same problem with another machine with OS = WinXP SP3.

I had this problem, but you can overcome this by running as administrator the xampp control panel...

Try to install a previous release: 1.7.2 or 1.7.1.
