Newbie: Confusion over documentroot

Postby johnlochness » 12. March 2010 22:06

Hi,

Just started out with Apache and have installed via xampp.

Apache, php and mysql all working fine, but I'm confused about how I define htdocs in my httpd file.

The install comes with documentRoot defined as DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs" which is needed to pick up the xampp control panels, including phpmysql, but all my web pages are defined in /my documents/my webs/ and I'd prefer to keep it that way.

How can I define both locations in my DocumentRoot.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I've been searchin the web and these forums for hours and am getting no-where.

If you want to have several different directorys served by Apache which aren't subdirectorys of each other, you had to define VirtualHosts. Otherwise Apache can't identify exactly which directory you request
