you might have localhost mapped to some other ip than Look in your c:\windows\system32\etc\drivers\host file and see if everything is okay there. You should have a line with ' localhost'

i do have iis turned on
and my host file is
# 1999 Microsoft Corp.
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
# For example:
# # source server
# # x client host localhost site1.loc site2.loc site3.loc site4.loc site5.loc site6.loc site7.loc site8.loc site9.loc site10.loc site11.loc site12.loc site13.loc site14.loc site15.loc site16.loc site17.loc site18.loc site19.loc site20.loc site21.loc site22.loc site23.loc site24.loc site25.loc site26.loc site27.loc site28.loc site29.loc site30.loc site31.loc site32.loc skywebmail.loc site33.loc site34.loc site35.loc site36.loc site37.loc site38.loc site39.loc site40.loc site41.loc site42.loc thechannel.loc site43.loc site44.loc site45.loc

Did you set up a password to the root account? If so, go to \xampp\phpMyAdmin\ and edit these lines:

Code: Select all
/* Authentication type and info */
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type']            = 'config';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['user']                 = 'root';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password']             = 'password';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['AllowNoPassword']      = true;

replacing "password" with your actual password.
