Cannot view webpage

Hello,

This is my first time using Apache. For that matter this is my first time doing anything with websites and servers.

I installed the package of applications that comes with Xampp, including Apache, FileZilla, MySQL, Tomcat and Mercury. I can access the front page of Xampp and have setup the security for all of the applications as directed by Xampps' website.

The problem that I am having is that I can navigate to the localhost (127.0.0.1) and view that page and the pages connected by links fine. However when I try to navigate to 127.0.0.1/xampp/htdocs/index.html, the page which is displayed says object not found. This happens whenever I try to navigate to any directory. I assume it is a security setting of some sort that I missed or messed-up.

The end goal would be to set up a website that people outside of my local network can access.

Please instruct me how to fix this problem and let me know if you need any more information. Thank you very much for any and all assistance you can provide.

:)

http://127.0.0.1 already routes inside your htdocs folder.
corrent path is 127.0.0.1/index.html to show up the index.html file inside your htdocs folder.
