trouble with localhost on my network

Postby herbalife » 21. February 2010 02:12

Hi... I hope this is the right topic for my question. I have installed the xampp for windows and am having trouble with localhost on my network. I setup a local network of about 6 computers and have a local server (i.e. http://localhost) The problem im having among other things, is that when i go to my other computers and type in http://mylocalhost(ip address) it goes to http://mylocalhost/xampp correctly. But when I go to a folder where I have installed website pictures dont show up but site does. I think it has to do with my network computer not being able to pull up http://localhost/mywebsite/images/.jpg

Is there a way for my network computer to access http://localhost...etc with the following instead http://mylocalhost(ip address)/mywebsite/images/.jpg?

I dont understand the language here.. If anyone speaks English please reply with any ideas of how to solve this. I have to fix this. I also have other login problems and errors on my screen.

Thanks your help is greatly appreciated.

So if you dont understand german, why do you post in a german thread in the german part of this forum instead of opening a new thread in the english part of this forum? Can't you scroll down to the english part?

http://localhost/ only applies per computer. If you need to access another computer's localhost, unblock port 80 (which your firewall is probably protecting), and then access it through IP address.

I am able to access my home server from any computer on the network. However, when I pull up the website that I installed all I get are the text. In other words no pics. when I point my mouse to the pics I notice that it points to http://localhost/mysite/imanges/.....jpg instead of http://ipadress/mysite/images...jpg . So I want to be able to see my site in a normal way from any computer on the network.....

Maybe im just doing something wrong...thx

Hi,

I just read your post and I'm experiencing same problem (I think) I am running vBulletin board with Apache installed from XAMPP. If I open my vBulletin website on actuall webserver (localhost) it looks fine, however, If I open it from any of my workstation in same LAN I get "garbage" in IE, for example.. pictures are missing, formatting is lost etc.
Could you please tell me what and how did you fix your problem.

Thanks
