can apache coexist with iis sql express?

Postby krd » 03. February 2010 19:04

Hi There,

I'm a newbee,

I have windows 7 with apache installed on it. I installed windows sql express server yesterday and when I tried to bring up apache, the apache status do not indicate 'running' and the apache admin button did not highlite. The mysql svc box was checked and button also did not highlite.

After doing some googling I modified the apache httpd.conf file line 47, from Listen 80 to Listen 8080 and line 181 from localhost 80 to localhost 8080.

When apache came up it looked normal. But when I click on either of the admin buttons I get the following message;

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Detailed Error Information
Module IIS Web Core
Notification MapRequestHandler
Handler StaticFile
Error Code 0x80070002
Requested URL http://localhost:80/xampp/
Physical Path C:\inetpub\wwwroot\xampp\
Logon Method Anonymous
Logon User Anonymous

Is there something else i'm missing or need to change?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

If you change the Apache port, you can't use the admin button. Instead you must use http://localhost:8080/ in your browser.

Thanks Wiedmann,
That did work. However when I select the status button from the xampp main panel, I get a deactivated status on all of the components. Am I missing something else? I stopped the processes running under the sql express but still get the deactivated status. Before I installed sql express I believe all components were activated except for the SMTP and IPv6.
Thanks

MySQL database DEACTIVATED
PHP DEACTIVATED
Perl with mod_perl DEACTIVATED
Apache::ASP DEACTIVATED
HTTPS (SSL) ACTIVATED
Common Gateway Interface (CGI) DEACTIVATED
Server Side Includes (SSI) DEACTIVATED
IPv4 DEACTIVATED
IPv6 DEACTIVATED
SMTP Service DEACTIVATED

I uninstalled the sql server and reinstalled xampp. I seem to have permanently messed up my xampp installation. I can not get the apache to start but mysql does start and when I click on admin I get the same HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found error as when I had the sql express installed. What to do next? Reinstall windows 7? I do not recommend installing windows sql server express on the same machine as apache. At least I have had no luck.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
