on Windows XP ... Now I upgraded my PC to Windows 7

IMHO there is no upgrade from XP to 7. So what have you done exactly?

I do not know what to do to retrieve XAMPP.

e.g.
- your old XAMPP still exists?
- or you have a backup of your old XAMPp directory?

I just bought the Windows 7 and installed it in my PC. Prior to that I had Windows XP.

Yes, my old XAMPP is still in a folder in my PC' s C drive. I backed up all my files from windows XP using Windows Easy Transfer program before I installed Windows 7.

Thanks for your help

I did it. I started it. But I found this:

XAMPP Control Pane Version 2.5
Windows 6.1 Build 7600 Platform 2
Current Directory: C\xampp
Install Directory:
* * * WARNING: Directory mismatch * * *
Status Check OK

Apache started [port 80] ...Busy
MySql started [port 3306]...Busy

FileZilla.. ERROR..FileZilla FTP must be run as a Service

I have found that
The Windows kernal is using port 80
so I tried to run Apache on port 8080 by editing the file httpd.conf
c:\\xampp\apache\conf
But I could not do it because access was denied. I do not have skype.

This is the Check Port result:
Apache (HTTP)....... Port...80..Free
Apache (WebDAV)....Port...81...Free
Apache (HTTPS)......Port...443...Free

MySQL .......Port...3306....Free

FileZilla (FTP).........Port...21......Free
FileZilla (Admin)......Port ..14147...Free

Mercury (SMTP).......Port....25......(SYSTEM)
Mercury (POP3).......Port....110.....(SYSTEM)
Mercury (IMAP).......Port....143......(SYSTEM)

I hope that this information helps. Please let me know waht I can do.
Thanks for your help.

I don't know where you have found this, but it's irrelevant:

Apache (HTTP)....... Port...80..Free

Nothing is using Port 80 on your system (it's free), so no need to change the Apache port.

so I tried to run Apache on port 8080 by editing the file httpd.conf. But I could not do it because access was denied.

So you have to check the file and directory privileges for the XAMPP dir (e.g. assign full read/write access for everyone for the XAMPP dir and subdirs).
