I want to set a root password for my account 'root'. But when I go to 127.0.0.1 to change my password, it asks me to enter the current root password, but there is none. So how would I change the root password without using a command prompt? That brings me to my second question. When I open the MySQL shell and type in mysql, it gives me an error:
ERROR 2017 (HY000): Can't open named pipe to host: . pipe: MySQL (2)
I'm running XAMPP version 1.7.3 and Windows 7 32-bit.
