hi

i am a new user of xampp and i have a new laptop with windows 7 home premium.

i have installed xampp and in the controll panel i ask to run apache and mysql but the mysql is not running. i went to localhost and the security to set root password but i see this message:
The MySQL server is not running or is blocked by a firewall! Please check this problem first ...

i closed my Macafee firewall (which came with the new comp), but still cannot run it.

what should i do?

i did something and now mysql is running. i unchecked the mysql as service and then it run.

but now i cannot access phpmyadmin.

i get this message:
2003 - Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

please help!!

this is very bizare but on firefox i can get into phpmyadmin but the error still remain with IE8

any idea?
