Problems Starting MYSQL

Hi,
I'm using Portable App, XAMPP with XAMPP_Launcher_1.3 and xampp-win32-1.7.3.
I can get apache, Filezilla abd Mercury to run, but i can't get MySQL to run.
The XAMPP Control Panel says MYSQL service started, but i dont get "Running" appear.
And apps like phpmyadmin can't see it, so its not running!!! even if it is started!

Any suggestions on what to do next please?

I am not an expert. but i got the same problem and i solved it as follows;
1) open folder \xampp\xampp\mysql and run mysql_uninstallservice.bat.
2) and then run mysql_installservice.bat.
plaese consult other person if u have your data in it. if there is no important data then follow 2 steps above.

Thanks for your reply and unfortantly it didn't do anything!
Is there something i should be doing with admin rights or Does the fact i'm running vista have an issue?
FileZilla and Mercury starts very easily but Apache has only ever started once, ( I Have no idea how) and MySQL has never started.
As FileZilla and Mercury start i take it that my install is ok? I'm running it on a pen drive using portable apps.

I would be grateful for any support!
