Can't log in to my phpMyAdmin

While working with my database in phpMyAdmin, something happened - not sure what, and now I can't log in. Every time I enter my username and password, I get the following message:

phpMyAdmin - Error
Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly

I don't know where the log file is to even see if I can figure out what's wrong. I have the data backed up, but I can't get into phpMyAdmin to restore it.

Please, someone tell me how to get this resolved.

Thanks a million, Izzy. I guess I'm getting more and more senile in my old age. I hadn't remembered the previous episode, and was so angry & upset with myself that I didn't even think of searching.
