Setting up the security in XAMPP

I have installed XAMPP1.7.2 for windows.
I struck with the error while setting up the security parameters.
When I browse to this path http://localhost the browser shows the text as "It works!"
but when next i put the address as http://localhost/security/ the browser does not redirects to this path .
instead it displays the text as "The requested URL /security/ was not found on this server".
So will anybody please tell me why does it happens?

Sure you have installed XAMPP? Or better:
The Apache server from XAMPP is running and not another one?
