Error: apache service not started [-1]

Just installed xampp 1.7.1 but when starting apache and mysql up I get these two errors:
Error: apache service not started [-1]
Error: mysql service not started [-1]
filezilla seems to work just fine though. What am I doing wrong?

Perhaps the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file holds the clue.

Also you could try to remove the ticks in both Apache and MySQL Svc boxes then after answering the questions, try and Start Apache and MySQL again.
