Start button not changing to stop

Postby GeorgieBrown » 18. November 2009 13:49

Hi
I have installed XAMPP in Windows XP environment. The control panel seems to work but when I press the 'start' buttons for Apache and MySQL a message comes up with each 'Busy...Apache started' and 'Busy...My Sql started' but the buttons do not change to 'stop' as indicated. The FileZilla and Mercury buttons change to 'stop'.
When I try and test the server by typing in http://localhost/ as indicated - IE comes up with a cannot find server message.
Appreciate any help - thanks.

Something in e.g. the Apache "error.log"?

I think line 35 is : ServerRoot "/xampp/apache"
I installed the program into C:/xampp - should I have just installed it to C:/ ??
Thanks

Code: Select all
Syntax error on line 35 of C:/xampp/xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf

I installed the program into C:/xampp

You have installed XAMPP with the EXE and there was no error during the setup script?

Thanks for your help Weidmann. In the end I decided to uninstall it all and start again. This time I used the installation through the 'mirror' link and selected C:\programfiles to install to. Don't know what difference this should make - but it all works now thank goodness!
