Apache port change does not list correctly in xampp console

I use IIS on port 80, at least some of the time. I want apache to run on 8888.

In httpd.conf I changed it from 80 to

Listen 8888

In apache\conf\extra\httpd-ssl.conf I changed the ssl port to 4499

Finally apache would start. But now I've rebooted and on restarting apache the xampp console says it's running on 80? But it's running on 8888 in fact. How can I get that right? Just want xampp to report the facts. I'm think I'm running Upgrade Package 1.6.1: Apache 2.2.4, OpenSSL 0.9.8e, MySQL 5.0.37, PHP 4.4.6, FileZilla FTP Server 0.9.23, phpMyAdmin 2.10.02, ZEND Optimizer 3.2.4 for XAMPP 1.6.0. It says xampp control panel 2.5

This is hard coded in the XAMPP Control Panel and can be ignored.

http://localhost:8888/ will confirm that the Listen port change is working.
https://localhost:4499/ will conform that the SSL configuration changes made are working.
