Apache / Win 7 issue - my solution

After rebuilding my software environment on Win 7 64 ultimate, I installed Xampp 1.7.2 but Apache would not start. I read previous posts about conflicts with port 80 and implemented every suggested solution. Still it would not start.

I was finally able to get Apache to start after uninstalling 1.7.2 and installing version 1.7.0.
