I have a dell inspiron with 2 gigs of ram running windows xp. Everything runs fine until I start apache. As soon as I start apache, my hard drive starts sweeping, almost continuously, and everything slows to a crawl. No matter what I do - clicking on a browser tab, enterting text into a document, minimizing a window - it takes several seconds for anything to happen. This state persists even after I turn apache off. The only way to fix it is to restart my computer. When I look at what processes are running, nothing jumps out. I have ~90% CPU available whether apache is on or off.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
