How to copy Joomla in C:/XAMPP so it will function

I am a Joomla! Fledgling,

I have downloaded XAMPP.

How to download and install Joomla on my computer (Windows XP)?

1) On my browser Mozilla I go to http://www.joomla.org and click the Download button.

2) Then on the «Download Joomla! 1.5.X» and I click on the Zip of «English (UK) Full package
1.5.4 Zip»

3) The window «Open-Joomla 1.5.4-Stable_Full-Package-Zip» opens, giving me two options:
either to open the package with the WinZip default, or to save it as a file.

4) As I want to save it in my computer I click on «Save file».

5) I am informed that the file Joomla 1.5.4-Stable_Full-Package-Zip has been downloaded.

6) I click twice on it and the «WinZip Joomla 1.5.4-Stable_Full-Package-Zip» window opens with
all of it there.

Question: How can I copy «WinZip Joomla 1.5.4-Stable_Full-Package-Zip» on my C:\ and where, so that it can work together with the XAMPP for Windows

How can I copy «WinZip Joomla 1.5.4-Stable_Full-Package-Zip» on my C:\

Maybe there is a button "extract to" in WinZIP? (sorry, don't know WinZip)
Or someone from the Joomla support knows the answer how to install this software in an "official" way.

(the common way for most software is to extract the archive into the document_root, and then starting the install script)

so that it can work together with the XAMPP for Windows

Your document_root, and where all files should be, is "\xampp\htdocs".
