Don't won't to show subdirectories.

Postby eroeurbano » 10. October 2009 15:31

Hi everybody,
I'm kind of new to XAMPP but I could
successfully manage to have my webserver on my machine (with Vista SP2, 32bit)
(so that I can have access from a site like http://myname.mycompany.com)
and to make my site work fine.
I just have a question (probably silly):
in htdocs directory I created a new directory "mysite"
and changed the index.php file to link to my directory.
What I don't like is that in the address bar I see like: http://myname.mycompany.com/mysite
Is there any way to "mask" the subdirectories?? I think is something called "Url rewriting"
but I have just been told it exists and don't know how to configure it in XAMPP.
Thank you very much for your advices!!!
Cheers!

Why don't you put your files in "\xampp\htdocs" (instead of "\xampp\htdocs\mysite")?

Hi, thanks for your answer.
I have mainly two reasons:
1) I am using a CMS (Drupal), and I don't want to mix
its folder with the one Xampp installs (xampp, phpmyadmin and so on) ;
2) I want to keep XAMPP online utilities, so that if I need to create
a db I can do it remotely going to mysite.mycompany.com/phpmyadmin

Any other advice on how I can solve this?

1) I am using a CMS (Drupal),

And what's the problem? Just delete the 2 files in "\xampp\htdocs" and install Drupal directly into this directory. That's exactly what you want have.
It's also possible to delete the directory "\xampp\htdocs\xampp". It's nothing you really nned. Just some demos.

Actually I want to be able to visualize them..
for the security issues, phpinfo and all the other stuffs...
By the way, phpmyadmin is not in the htdocs directory,
but i can access it writing: http://myname.mycompany.com/phpmyadmin,
so I think it is just a configuration issue, so that i can put xampp and other
stuffs into an other directory and use htdocs as the root one..
Please if you know the soolution just tell me.. I want to have phpmyadmin xampp
and all the other stuffs (even if they're just demos).
Thanks :)
