Hi,
I successfully installed and configured XAMPP today and plan to start working on PHP/MySQL development locally. The only hiccup I've run into is my MySQL host within PHP scripts. For the remote site I'm working on, I have an external host (like mysql-specific.host.com), whereas in XAMPP the host is always localhost.
I'm not familiar with Apache configuration at all, so please forgive my ignorance: is it possible to set up a MySQL host locally that mirrors the MySQL host of my remote site so that I don't have to maintain two copies of the same script? I already got confused once and ended up with a slew of MySQL errors on my remote site because it doesn't know what "localhost" means.
Thanks for your help.
Derek
