msg : You may not have the appropriate permissions to access

Hi, I installed "xampp-win32-1.7.1-installer.exe" and it was working fine. I disabled zend and activated xdebug, and it was still ok. I later installed some other applications, including eclipse. When I tried to activate my control panel it gives the message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

I logged in as administrator but the message persists. I uninstall and reinstall but it persists.

What went wrong and how to rectify this?

There should be a number associated with that error message, such as 500, 403, etc. Post that and also check your Apache error logs for clues. It's located in xampp/apache/logs/error
