Hi,
When installing Xampp 1.7.2 from the EXE file I get the following command prompt screen:
Entering anything but
x does nothing, with
x exiting the prompt and cancelling the installation.
Any way around this?
Thanks,
Anth.

The numerical options worked for me yesterday, using XP Pro/SP3. Maybe the "X" was intended for the "X" in the upper right of the console window. It read "choose," so maybe clicking on that "X" was intended...
Anyway, that's how I get rid of the console window after I no longer need it.

The NULL device missing on your Windows.
(For the same reason your Apache can't start)

And that means?
You must install/activate the NULL device in Windows.
