XAMPP 1.7.1 won't install

Hi,

I downloaded the Xampp 1.7.1 installer and tried to install it by doubleclicking it.
The only thing I see is a batch screen that popsup and disappears immediately...

Tried it on an XP pro SP2 machine (standalone and no network connection) and a Vista ultimate pc with network connection.

I also downloaded the self extracting file and ran that, but then I get an extraction error report with a lot of errors like '... file broken'.

I really don't understand it...

Advise is appreciated.

Thanks,
Kurt

Seems that all your downloads are broken (incomplete). Check the size of the downloaded files and compare to the values given on the download page.

Or check your disk - maybe it's full and the installer fails to unpack.

Just checked the sizes.
The installer file and self extracting file have the same size as shown on the download side.

And there is also enough disk space (40GB)

Strange.. Just did a fresh download of the installer, but instead of saving it to the local drive, I simply ran it directly... and then it works fine :)

You may have installed a disk monitoring software like ZoneAlarm that continually monitors for malware and prevents strange .exe files from executing.

I am curious to know how you can download a file to your PC and not have it store on your hard drive and then run it directly???
