Hi Guys,

First, I did a forum search, couldn't find an answer.

I can't run MySQL, Apache works fine. Control Panel output:

However, it starts and then dies out. I thought it might be an issue with protection, since I have passwords. Logging into xampp was possible, trying to login into PHPMyAdmin was not possible.

I ran mysql_uninstallservice.bat - even though it's a not a service, but who knows - , output:

now stopping MySQL when it runs

Passwoerter fuer Benutzer "root" und "pma" wurden nicht geloescht!

Are you working with this installation, or can you deinstall and reinstall the whole thing?

(btw: why are you using 1.7.1-beta5, and not 1.7.1?)

Wait I'm an idiot. Here's what I dl'd:

xampp-win32-1.7.1-installer.exe

I could reinstall, you think that's the only way?

I recently formatted my PC, still downloading win updates for vista (yes I am on vista, XP would cost me 200 euros), might be the system?

Maybe extracting only the databases (\xampp\mysql\data\*) from the XAMPP zip can also help.

(Well, I've never seen this error in a fresh XAMPP installation)
