PHP, FTP, and POP3

Postby Howard Kaikow » 12. July 2009 22:15

According to the Security page, XAMPP, MySQL and PhpMyAdmin are SECURE.

PHP Is listed as UNSECURE. Since the PC is a single user system, need I be concerned? If so, what do I need to do? THe info states that Safe Mode is being removed in PHP 6.

It is stated

A FTP server is not running or is blocked by a firewall!

And is marked as UNKNOWN status.

At this time, I have no plans on using FTP from within XAMPP Lite.
Do I need to do anything?
Just yesterday, I installed fireftp in Firefox, so I could still use ftp from outside of XAMPP.

It is also stated

A POP3 server like Mercury Mail is not running or is blocked by a firewall!

And is marked as UNKNOWN status.

What will happen if I click on a mailto link within XAMPP?
Will my default mail program (Thunderbird) still run?
If not, how would I enable a POP 3 server?

I now see that the Lite version does not include Filezilla or Mercury Mail.

Thunderbird swoops in when I click on a mailto.
So, I guess that I donot need a mail server unless I find that I need to use sendmail.
