xamp causing problems with my ISP

Postby diasick » 02. July 2009 16:26

port 80 is left oppen that is the HTTP port which is the target of spam bots, they opened up that port and used my computer as a server, to send out spam through a spambot, then sent over 100,000+ emails to my ISP and this happens to be the 2nd time that happened so the next time it dose happen my broadband will be shut down for 30 days...

what should i do?

Enable your Windows Firewall and disable ALL exceptions. Or buy an Router. If you got infected with a virus or trojan, reinstall your Windows!

BTW: Spambots do not open any ports.

Because it is YOUR Computer! You are responsible to keep it safe. If you are not able to do this, you should not use XAMPP!

Close the inbound port 80... You really shouldn't allow people to access your XAMPP installation on your computer (Or anywhere for that matter). The reasons why should be quite obvious for you
