I too am experiencing this problem. The php.ini file is not in the directory stated in correspondence to Configuration File (php.ini) Path. I am told that if the php.ini file can't be found at the location suggested, then I should download it from the php.net website and that it is in the source code.... I can't find it even here. I went to the 'downloads page' and downloaded BOTH zip files and searched through the files contained within them but to no avail...no php.ini file to be found. The closest-resembling files found are named "php.ini-recommended", and "php.ini-dist"

I think the main problem here is that I am as new to all this stuff as one can be.

Can someone please help?

The php.ini file is not in the directory stated in correspondence to Configuration File (php.ini) Path.

You must look for "Loaded Configuration File".
(Or read the XAMPP for Windows homepage.)

If you have deleted some XAMPP directories, you can create your own "phpinfo.php":

Put this file with the name "phpinfo.php" in your DocumentRoot:
Code: Select all
<?php phpinfo(); ?>

and access it with http://localhost/phpinfo.php.

php.ini is, indeed, no longer at the location where the documentation says it should be. It's now only in [xampp install dir]/php/.

phpinfo() link is available in the web based "control panel", which can be accessed by going to http://localhost.

Which Documentation did you mean?

OK, I see in your other post. The FAQ is wrong. Because in the main docu you can see the correct location:

Ah, so the correction would be easy -- just to remove that particular section in FAQ.

Thanks
