How to get SSI with XAMPP ?

Postby Mike A » 17. June 2009 20:20

Hi,
I'm really new to this, so please bear with me.

I'm working on setting up a testing server in Dreamweaver for a site that has PHP and SSI components.
I've got XAMPP up and running OK, as well as a vhost set up to the directory that contains my local site.

Normal HTML pages preview fine via localhost - except that the SSI's don't show.
SSI is listed as 'activated' on the XAMPP status page.

The apache docs say:
"To permit SSI on your server, you must have the following directive either in your httpd.conf file, or in a .htaccess file: Options +Includes"

But I really don't understand exactly what this means - what I have to type and where...

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,

Mike A.

I've stumbled across the answer:

As I'm using a virtual host (vhost) the httpd-vhosts.conf file needed to include

Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Includes

rather than just the default:

Options Indexes FollowSymLinks

It's now working :)
