Hi all,
I've been using xampp for a few months now, quite flawlessy and today as I was preparing to convince a friend to try it out. I wanted to make sure that I knew how to change all the default passwords to make everything secure in order for my friend to feel comfortable about using it, but I seemed to have messed things up royally.

I successfully changed the password for Apache, refreshed the page and the unsecure icon had changed to secure. I tried to change the sql password and the mysql admin window came up prompting me for a password. I had played aorund with the security settings briefly when I first installed xampp so I assumed that I had put in a password already, it had my username in the username field so I took a guess at the passowrd and hit eneter then the service indicator in the xampp control panel for MySql went off and it won't restart.

This is the error message that I get when I try to run it.
Error: MySql service not started [-1]

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing and no matter what I try even from the windows services control panel I get this error:
Could not Start the MySql service on Local Computer Error 2: The sytem cannot find the file specified.

In the C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe it asks me to try and start the MySql deamon as a service.

I'm using Windows XP sp3, XAMPP ver 1.7.0

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Chris

Nevermind...I removed the my.ini from the windows folder, uninstalled 1.7.0 and re-installed 1.7.1 and now it's all working again.
Sigh....whatever
