Hi I have just installed xampp-32 ver 1.7.1 via installer on windows vista . All seems to work but I have no access to http://localhost. I have found a post suggesting I type '127.0.0.1' into my browser and the page opens! The post states 'Check your Windows Hosts file has this line as the first uncommented line:
127.0.0.1 localhost' I cannot find my Windows host file! I thought it would be in windows/system32/drivers directory but no sign. Please can someone Help! Thanks

The post you read (paste here the link to the post) should have given the location of the Hosts file as:
C:Windows\system32\drivers\etc\

Open the file in Notepad by right clicking and selecting to run as administrator if you have problems saving the Hosts file after editing.

The first 2 lines should look like this after editing:
127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
