MySql not able to start

Sorry if this is a simple question, but I work/live out at sea and my internet access is severely limited and very very slow (hence my need for Xampp to work on my TextPattern site while at sea!).
Anyhow, I've installed the Xampp software package and it seemed to work properly, but when I start the Xampp control panel, it shows MySql has not started. When I click the "Start" button for it, it says that it's starting, but then it goes off again...
XAMPP Control Panel Version 2.5 (9. May, 2007)
Windows 6.0 Build 6001 Platform 2 Service Pack 1
Current Directory: C:\Program Files\xampp
Install Directory:
*** WARNING: Directory match ***
Status Check OK
<-- At this point I clicked on the "Start" button for MySql -->
Busy...
MySql started [Port 3306]
<-- At this point the "Start" button goes back to show MySql is not on -->
Is there anything else I need to do to get this working properly? Any advice is helpful. Thanks!
