hello,

i have looked over the web and this forum and found some hints on how to install mod_security from scratch for XAMPP in windows.

please could some one write the instructions on how to do this from the begining. where to get the files and what to compile etc.

I am not a computer novice but i have not done much with webservers.

any help would be great.

I know this is possible in XAMPP for Linux and I am also sure that there is an .so binary in this zip file from ApacheLounge that will assist in installing in XAMPP for Windows.

I don't know what you know already as you only skipped over the subject but these Google results may be helpful.

I have only installed in Linux and found it to be a very useful firewall.

If you have a go at installing it in XAMPP for Windows and are successful, perhaps you might like to post your method as a sort of tutorial so that it may help other members who would like to use mod_sec.

To build a Apache module, you also need the Apache headers and libs. These are (should be) part of XAMPP devel package:

But I guess a binary installation, also described there, is much easier on Windows. (Especially for someone with your questions.)

(It's not the "web" or "XAMPP" who are developing mod_security )

all the links above seem complicated when several people have wriiten little bits of the install procedures as if they were listed somewhere.

i have found these instructions, but i am not sure if they are correct. can someone look at them and tidy them up. thanks
