stop Apache & MySQL form xampp control panel

Postby orchid777 » 04. May 2009 19:12

Hi, I am absolutely a newbie and a I was a bit intimidated about the idea of managing my server. However I did manage to install xampp alright but I am having problems stopping Apache directly from the xampp control panel. I am assuming I did not give my user the administrative power to shut stop it. I have the same problem with MySQL.
Can anyone help out?
I'm a little stuck, just need a push in the right direction I figure.
I'm running vista home premium if that helps any).

awsome :D

This info only applies to Vista.

I had the same problem with XAMPP for Windows. Once starting the Apacha, FileZilla, and MySQL services I could stop the services. In order to do so, you have to run the XAMPP Control Panel as Administrator. Either right click on the program or shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator" or right-click on the program and shortcut and choose Properties, under the Compatibility tab, check the box setting the program to always run at the administrator privilege level. Another inconvenience of Vista.
