hello,

For installing an application (ie Laconica), i have to reinstall pear.
so in the Pear directory, i delete all file except "go-pear.phar".
then i run
I have a problem to install go-pear.phar.
then i run the script and got the error: **ERROR**: not a folder, or no php.exe found in this folder.

Code: Select all
D:\xampp\php\pear>..\php go-pear.phar

Are you installing a system-wide PEAR or a local copy?
(system|local) [system] :

Below is a suggested file layout for your new PEAR installation.  To
change individual locations, type the number in front of the
directory.  Type 'all' to change all of them or simply press Enter to
accept these locations.

 1. Installation base ($prefix)   : D:\xampp\php\pear
 2. Binaries directory            : D:\xampp\php\pear
 3. PHP code directory ($php_dir) : D:\xampp\php\pear\pear
 4. Documentation directory       : D:\xampp\php\pear\pear\docs
 5. Data directory                : D:\xampp\php\pear\pear\data
 6. Tests directory               : D:\xampp\php\pear\pear\tests
 7. Name of configuration file    : C:\WINDOWS\pear.ini
 8. Path to CLI php.exe           : D:\xampp\php\pear\

1-8, 'all' or Enter to continue: 8
**ERROR**: not a folder, or no php.exe found in this folder.
Press Enter to continue...

I read that it is related to a missing or wrong initialized envirnment variable. when i run set i have any variable linked to Php.

Has Someone any idea about this problem?

regards,
Julien

Why did you have to reinstall PEAR?

Because there is a problem with directory name. it needs to be lower case.

Can you explain this more detailed?
(--> Windows (NTFS) is not case sensitive.)

Well, after a quick view, I can't find the phrase "lower case".

But this page is about XAMPPLite, which does not have PEAR. You have XAMPP, which already have a PEAR installation.

it's here:
Note that on some xampp installations, the pear directory is in capitals (PEAR), which caused me some troubles. I ended up with renaming this PEAR directory to pear all lower capitals.

Thx. But the name of this folder should be no problem for any software (or this software have a bug...).

I also don't know why this guy is reinstalling the complete PEAR. Instead if just installing Validate-Beta (which is missing in your XAMPP).

Now your main problem:
Your "Installation base ($prefix)" must be "D:\xampp\php", and not "D:\xampp\php\pear".

And if I want to install a PEAR package, how can I do that?
On a prev. version of XAMPP I was able to install PEAR [don't ask me how I did it, 'cause I can't remember] and I was able to see avaible packages to install and the ones that are installed.
Any idea ? :?:
Pls help. :(
