Scheduled Automatic Backup

Hi,

I'm wanting to set a scheduled automatic backup, to backup the xampp directory and it's databases. What is the best way to do this? I know you can export from phpmyadmin but that is a manual process, and I need something I can set and let it do it's thing without me having to do anything.

Thanks in advance

Which version of Windows?
Which version of XAMPP?
Both omitted.

Hi,

I have it installed on Windows Server 2000 SP4, and it's version 1.7.0 of Xampp.

Thanks.

Here's one that will solve 1/2 the problem...

Somewhere I have my own script that works with any MySQL database date and timestamps the backup. Its a bit differnet, but the concept is the same. It must be on one of my 'work' machines. Grrrrrrr....

I have a MediaWiki site that would be great to make automatic backups of with XAMPP for Windows 1.7.2 running on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
On Command Prompt, how do I go from C:\Users\Nicole> to C:\xampp\mysql\bin\mysqldump ?
Is " at 02:00 /every:M,T,W,Th,F,S,Su c:\<path>\mysql-backup.bat " once a week or every day?
I'm not familiar with Command Prompt, sorry :-(.

Perfect JonB. That website was extremely helpful and now I have a daily backup that dumps the db to a file which I store on another PC, which is also backed up!

Thanks.

Nicoleta:

use the cd command (change directory)

cd C:\xampp\mysql\bin\

if you want see what's there type 'dir' (directory)

'mysqldump' is the program name for mysqldump.exe, its part of the standard MySQL distribution.

The instructions on that site are quite accurate as long as you are working in English, as the date command is language localized.

Hast Du Dich im Thread verklickt? Der hier ist 13 Jahre alt....

Im Nachbarthread fragt jemand nach automatischem Backup. Kannst Du ja dort nochmal den Link publizieren.
