Which version of Windows?
Which version of XAMPP?
Both omitted.

For Window's errors look in the Event Viewer in the Administrative Tools for more details perhaps.

Also look in your xampp\apache\logs\error.log file for clues at the time you get the Windows error message.

For some reason, i can't use MySQL. When looking at the PHP info page, i don't see a MySQL module installed, and I don't know how to install it myself. Can anyone point me somewhere that would explain how to do it?

IMHO your post is off topic in here as your issues are unrelated.

Please start another topic and try and explain in much more detail, please.
Also include your Windows version and your XAMPP version.
Both omitted.
Thanks.
