XAMPP 1.7.0 - Windows incompatibility (Access Violation)

Postby xnewbie » 19. February 2009 20:20

I was installed XAMPP 1.7.0 + Patch2 these days to obtain an easy installed and good pre-configured system, but... There is a problem in the default software of XAMPP.
When WinXP system started, the error window appear every 10 seconds, which tell me that there is Access Violation in the LIBMYSQL.dll library.

This error appearing from WinMySQLadmin 1.4 (every 10 seconds), which is started automatically. As I understand, this program is standard for XAMPP for Windows. So, it should work for newbies without the such problems (in the easy conception of LAMP, which is XAMPP).

After I click the "Set Server's Query Interval" button and changed the "Query Interval" to 60 seconds, errors appears 1 per minute (before that = 1 per 10 seconds).

So, the question is: how to get the fully worked standard XAMPP package (and WinMySQLadmin as its part)?

I found the strange path in the defaul settings of WinMySQLadmin 1.4, which packed with XAMPP:

What is this? And what the right path?

There are such files in that directory:

E:\_web\xampp\mysql\bin\

echo.exe
libmysql.dll
msvcr80.dll
my.cnf
my_example.cnf
my_print_defaults.exe
myisam_ftdump.exe
myisamchk.exe
myisamlog.exe
myisampack.exe
mysql.exe
mysql_client_test.exe
mysql_upgrade.exe
mysqladmin.exe
mysqlbinlog.exe
mysqlcheck.exe
mysqld.exe
mysqld-debug.exe
mysqldump.exe
mysqlimport.exe
mysqlmanager.exe
mysqlshow.exe
mysqlslap.exe
mysqltest.exe
perror.exe
replace.exe
resolveip.exe
winmysqladmin.cnt
winmysqladmin.exe
winmysqladmin.hlp

My OS is Windows XP Pro SP1

This error appearing from WinMySQLadmin 1.4 (every 10 seconds), which is started automatically.

Remove WinMySQLadmin from your StartUp folder and don't use it anymore.

...and install all manually and separately... Yes?

Why the unstable and not tuned application was included in XAMPP package?
Newbies (like I) can't easily tune MySQL, and can't easily tune so complicate packages as XAMPP.

How to solve the problem without the uninstalling of WinMySQLadmin ?
I need an easy way to use MySQL.

Use the GUI phpMyAdmin instead http://localhost/phpmyadmin
