Apache can't find the file or folder at the address you typed in the address bar of your browser.

Check your address that it is indeed correct and make sure that the wordpress folder is in the C:\xampp\htdocs folder - case is important as Wordpress is different in Apache to wordpress.

C:\xampp\wordpress\wp-admin\install.php =
http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php
http://127.0.0.1/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php

C:\xampp\Wordpress\wp-admin\install.php =
http://localhost/Wordpress/wp-admin/install.php
http://127.0.0.1/Wordpress/wp-admin/install.php

Hi Izzy,
I am Up!!! WordPress released a new download so I tried that instead figuring that if their support ignored all the install messages it was likely an error in the download....Thanks so much! I am pretty amazed...I live in Florida part of the time and do dolphin rescues when called upon....mentioned this as I was your save the whales. People don't realize how warm and loving they are even when they are sick....

Thanks again for agreat program and awesome support!

Thanks Dr.Amy for posting back that all is now well with XAMPP and WordPress, I am pleased for you. :)

The planet's wild life whether on land, in the air or trying to survive in our waterways, need our undying support to survive and each of us doing their bit must surely help to achieve this goal.

Thanks for your support and my best wishes and kind thoughts for your work with those magnificent Dolphins - there is still that unsolved mystery why Whales and Dolphins beach themselves in what appears to be a mass suicide attempt, perhaps one day we will be able to understand what they are trying to tell us.

Good luck and now, please enjoy XAMPP.

Try simply http://localhost/wordpress/index.php if that is the location of your installation.

You should see a menu item list under Meta called Site Admin

Or go direct to http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/index.php and check out your configuration settings, you may have to login to wordpress as an admin and also allow cookies in your browser perhaps for your site.

In the Options in admin there is a section that may require experimenting with:
Membership:
Anyone can register
Users must be registered and logged in to comment

In any case the Wordpress forums may be the place for answers to this issue with Wordpress as this forum is for XAMPP related issues.
Good luck.
