I have the same problem about mySQL not responding, and have tried to followed the link and the steps, but still not solved-
I can't tick of in the WAMPP Control Panel, and get the message that removal is denied when I'm trying to uninstall.

I'm using the XAMPPlite and windows vista.

Would really appreciate if any one has the answer. thanks,

You need to have administrator rights in Vista to install/uninstall services and to do most anything administrative with a web server or your PC and you also need to turn off UAC.
