How do I change the setvice ports?

Postby Advice Pro » 04. December 2008 22:31

I saw somewhere in the control panel that a port was set to one thousand something, so I changed it to port 80. I copied the following port guide from http://diywebserver.com/network.php:

80 - Web Server
21 - FTP Server
25 - SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) usually handled by an email server
53 - DNS (Domain Name Server)
110 - POP3 handled by an email server
81 - WebMail Email Server Interface (I like to use 81 for webmail, some people use 8080 or 8081)

So, would the service ports in XAMPP be (Down below on thhe Control Panel reads MySQL uses 3306):

80 for Apache and MySQL
21 for FileZilla
25 for Mercury Mail

If you go to http://localhost and click on the Security menu item and wait for the page to fully load then scroll down the page it should give you a list of all the ports used in XAMPP.
(You may have to click again on the Security menu item of the new page if there is no list present).

Also the FAQ gives you the similar information.

Running .\xampp\xampp-portcheck.exe will also give a few of the major ports used by XAMPP.
