WinMySQLs errors('Driver 3.51 not found', LIBMYSQL error)

Postby DavidKinston » 29. November 2008 22:26

I'm starting off with XAMPP. Windows XP SP3 etc.
Used Windows installers with all defaults.

Installed 1.6.2 after 1.6.8 had errors (see below).
Everything appears OK except that XAMPP Control Panel can't admin MYSQL, with the above error.
Installed on 2 different PCs, set up security passwords etc, same story.
Tried to find and answer here and on the web but no luck so far.
Anyone got the answer to this?

The XAMPP 1.6.8 error is the following:
Access violation at address 100009FB0 in module 'LIBMYSQL.dll'. Read of address 00000000.
This is reported widely but all proposed solutions were of no help. Anyone know about this one?

David, first off the "Admin" link in the Control Panel to .\xampp\mysql\winmysqladmin.exe is deprecated and preferably should not be used - use phpMyAdmin instead which has more functionality anyway.
Located at http://localhost/phpmyadmin or from the XAMPP Welcome Page.

The access violation issue has been posted and a successful outcome effected many times in these forums.
I searched for Keyword: violation in the Forum: XAMPP for Windows under the Category: Apache Friends in English and came up with many relevant results.

First remove the shortcut from the Start Menu>Programs>Startup folder.

If that doesn't fix it try the instructions in this post:

It is a great help in troubleshooting if you post what you have tried already to fix the issue so we are not offering a solution that, for you, has not been effective.
