Permission error accessing local site

Postby dotman » 07. November 2008 19:22

I have xampp setup on xp pro, and I can reach the xampp pages fine, but when i put a new site folder in the htdocs dir, i get the following permission error. What do I need to do to gain permission to my sites both in the browser and ftp?

Access forbidden!
You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Does the new site folder in the htdocs folder have a .htaccess file included?

Any clues in the .\xampp\apache\error.log file or the access.log file?

I notice from your previous post that you may have installed another instance of PHP.

If so then there may be a conflict, so check out this thread especially my post related to issues with another PHP instance:
