cannot connect through localhost

cannot connect through localhost

Hi all.
installed xampp on my laptop using the installer on windows vista 32bit, with all updates installed
netgear router uses 192.168.0.1
I cannot access xammp using localhost, I can access xammp using 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.3 which is laptop.

can any one help with info on setting it up to connect on localhost

Remove "::1" from your HOSTS file.

Forgive my ignorance, but at the age of 61 and doing a search, i am having trouble finding where the hosts file is situated.

Then you can't remove it, if you don't have it in that file ;-)

You must have a line like

127.0.0.1 localhost


in your host-File.

my problem is that i cannot access even 127.0.0.1, not speaking of localhost
