Hi,
I've upgraded from 1.66a to the latest xampp (1.6. with upgrade installer.
Upgrade installer process was without error.
Now when I want to start apache and mysql, only apache doesn't not start!
I mention that all ports are free, I use XP SP3

How can I resolve this?
If I uninstall/reinstall xampp, is there possibility to loose something? (files and db)

ok, I resolved with uninstall and then install the package

pippus i have had the same problem and got exactly the same error messages from XP service pak 2 but could not resolve it so restored 1.6.6a. When you say you uninstalled and then installed to solve it. Did you discard the upgrade and install the full programme? I cannot lose my webistes and data so not sure whehter this is an option

Don't worry, you don't loose anything.
When uninstalling you may prompt to delete the mysql databases. You must choose NO. After that you will prompt to delete the htdocs directory. Again, you must choose NO.
Then you must install the full XAMPP package 1.6.8.
That's all. The files and databases will rest intact.
