MySql dying within seconds

Postby esimuro » 29. September 2008 14:03

I am attempting to use XAMPP with Apache and MySql on a Windows Vista system. Apache starts just fine and operates without problem. The first time I started MySql it ran until I had to reboot the system. Now when I attempt to start MySql it will start for just a minute or two and then stop. If I run mysqld from the bat file it will run but if I substitute mysqld-nt (The file called out by the service) it will not and gives not real information:

MySQL konnte nicht gestartet werden
MySQL could not be started
Press any key to continue . . .

Can anyone give me some pointers on finding out why it is not running. I believe there are log files in xampp\mysql but I tried to read them with wordpad and could not, how do you read the logs? :?:
