Turning off XAMPP

Postby SteveXY » 26. September 2008 21:26

I am running XAMPP successfully in my Win XP Pro computer. I think I need to disable Apache or XAMPP or both, to free up port 80 so that Plone can use port 80.

When I edit httpd.conf to make apache use another port, the XAMPP panel still names port 80 as the port for apache. If I turn off apache from the XAMPP panel it still names port 80 as the apache port. Do I need to turn off XAMPP istelf and if so how do I do it?

I was running Plone successfully back in April this year, but I cannot remember the steps I took to make it run with XAMPP also being present. I hope all this makes sense.

The XAMPP control panel doesn't read the config files and the string "80" is hardcoded in the source code.

Hey thanks so much for that reply! What you have said makes so much sense. I will now seek help on a Plone forum, as it now seems to be Plone that I need to sort out.
