Apache wont start with XAMPP

Postby surfer2310 » 16. September 2008 00:37

Hi, im a complete beginner here, im trying to use XAMPP to run Apache. whenever i hit start on the XAMPP control panel to run apache,

first thing it does is go:

busy...
apache started [port 80]

and nothing happens, then when i hit start again. it will say
RUNNING
and then it will go back to blank after about 1 second of saying RUNNING, (i can highlight it and it says stopped when it goes back to blank), mysql works though when i hit start it stays running. iv checked to see if anything else is running on port 80 and its not, iv tried changing the channel apche listens to to 85, that dident do anything so i changed it back.

it is also not blocked by my firewall.

any help is appreciated, thanks

I'm having the exact same problem. What I've done is during installation I picked them up as services. Everything seemed fine when I did that.

I have a problem of my own And I'm wondering if you can help me.

Heres the link. I hope your using vista

Ah I had the same problem. I'd say during the install just have them as services.

Thats how I solved my problem.

Reinstall xampp and choose to run apache and mysql as services and then once everything is working you can always go into services and change them to start Manualy if thats what you wanted to begin with.
