APACHE DON'T START - WINDOWS XP S.P.2

Postby Joe46 » 01. September 2008 11:29

HI,

Someone can help me?
I would want to usee Xampp but I can’t start APACHE server (MySQL yes).
Are several days that I’m fighting with the problem and I have tried all without results.

I'm working with windows XP serv.P.2. Therefore I have tried to uninstall Firewall or putting the exceptions for apache.

I tried before with self-installing file and after with the. zip file ( launching the setup_xampp.bat) but nothing to do: apache don’t start but MySQL yes.

If someone can help me I would be happy since I am in order to abandon XAMPP.

Thanks very much.

Just start the apache_start.bat in the XAMPP directory, it will tell you what is wrong. I would guess something like Skype or another tool blocking port 80. If port 80 is blocked, you can use xampp-portcheck.exe to determine what software is blocking port 80.

Hi,
when J launch apache_start.bat it tell "no listening socket avaible, shutting_ down_unable to open logs
make_sock: for address 0.0.0.0.443 APR_SOCKET_OPT_SET.

When start xampp_port_check.exe all ports are free.

Thank You very mach.

Please keep discussion inside the board, other users can help finding the solution!

That looks very weird. You should try a complete reinstall. Do it in this way:

Start XAMPP Control Panel and untick all SVC-Checkboxes (uninstall all services) if installed. Then stop all running services. If you have currently installed the XAMPP-Installer version, run the uninstall program, otherwise just delete the complerte XAMPP folder. Now restart your Computer (not really necessary, but it's Windows). Then download a fresh copy of XAMPP (Installer) from Sourceforge and install it to C:\xampp. Do not use a path with spaces or other strange symbols!

Some guys had problems with the zipped version of XAMPP, as the unzipping sometimes fails. So it is better to use the installer version.

EDIT: ok, you just pasted it to board too. Anyway, the email was not necessary!
