PEAR broken?

Hey.

I'm on Vista x64. I uninstalled and reinstalled XAMPP (to a different location this time), and now whenever I try to install anything with PEAR (for example, symfony), it just doesn't work. For example, there is no symfony folder, but PEAR claims that it is installed.

Everything worked perfectly in the last installation? Any idea what could be wrong?
