1045 - Access denied

Well I m quite a bit new to XAMPP, and just installed the XAMPP package. Going into the XAMPP localhost site and check the statuses, the MySQL shows that it is deactivated. Moreover when i went to the MyphpAdmin the following is being displayed.

phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.
